Mia Green loves cookies. But this morning, the jar is empty! "Where are my cookies?" she cries. She looks everywhere. Then, she sees Coco, the cat, with a white crumb on his nose. Aha!

Mia is angry. "Coco! Did you eat all my cookies?" Coco blinks. Mia looks in his bowl. It is full of cat food. "Hmm," she thinks. Maybe Coco didn't take them. But who did?

So Mia calls the police and Inspector Clever arrives.

Inspector Clever: Hello, Mr. Green. I am here about the missing cookies.

Mia: Oh, hello, Officer. Yes, those cookies! They are chocolate chip, my favorites.

Inspector Clever: And how many cookies are missing?

Mia: Ten! A whole plate!

Inspector Clever: Hmm, did anyone visit you today?

Mia: Yes, my neighbor's cat, Mittens. She likes to come and look at the birds outside my window.

Inspector Clever: I see. Does Mittens like cookies?
